BIG 18

What? Where? Why?

The 8th annual BIG Research Day is being held on the 9th of March, 2018 (Friday), at the AMS Student Nest, 6133 University Blvd, University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

This year, our theme is Model Organisms and Model Systems

Scheduled events for the day include a panel discussion, workshops, poster presentations and lightning talks - with an evening mixer to conclude things!

Registration is now closed.

Speakers at BIG18 will be highlighting the role of model systems (be those in situ or in silico!) in furthering our understanding of biological mechanisms - in sickness and in health.

Our speakers are researchers representing a diverse range of areas under this umbrella, from C. elegans knock-outs to Markov models. Visit the Speakers pages to know more.

This event is open for researchers, trainees and undergraduate students at SFU and UBC. You can learn more about individual abstracts being presented at our poster sessions here. All Bioinformatics, GSAT, and IOP trainees in their 2nd year or above are required to present at the BIG Research Day.

Registration for BIG18 is now closed. If you are presenting a poster, remember to read the poster printing guidelines.

The BIG organization committee encourages participation from students interested in genomics research irrespective of their current research areas.
